Together In Music

Orchestra Indiana’s Together in Music program strives to share our passion for live symphonic music and to cultivate new relationships throughout our community, with a focus on early childhood and family education. Together in Music is a FREE, grant-supported program that brings instrument petting zoos, instrument demonstrations, and book readings to visit schools, daycares, community centers, and family-friendly public events throughout East Central Indiana.

INSTRUMENT PETTING ZOO

The extremely popular Instrument Petting Zoo allows you to discover the joy that comes from making music! Appropriate for ages 3+, the instrument petting zoo provides children and adults a hands-on experience with a variety of musical instruments from the orchestra. Guided by our knowledgeable staff, participants will hold various musical instruments and learn how to make a sound on each one.

INSTRUMENT DEMONSTRATIONS

Orchestra Indiana offers Instrument Demonstrations, given by a professional musician. Recommended for ages 3+, instrument demonstrations last 20-30 minutes. Presenters will provide an educational lesson about their instrument, a short performance demonstration, and have a Q&A session. Upon request, the presenter may also teach students about select topics, such as music history or concert etiquette.

PRE-K-1ST GRADE BOOK READINGS

Pre-K-1st grade group book readings, suitable for ages 3-7, are also available. A presenter will read a music-related storybook to your students, provide a short performance demonstration on their instrument, and/or teach students about select music topics. Book reading presentations are typically 20-25 minutes.
